Reston Association, during its annual budget process approved funding for Lake Thoreau Pool. In 2021, it's expected they will spend about $1.6 million. In a recent meeting, the board reviewed the progress to date. So far, many community members have actively participated in the process, from advocating for it's replacement, participating in brainstorming sessions, providing feedback on conceptual designs, participating in the budget process and reviewing site plans with the board and staff.
The original engineering study pointed out that the retaining wall between the pool and Lake Thoreau is in disrepair and needs replacing. The staff are considering alternatives to a retaining wall through a raised observation deck.
The schedule for reopening has been delayed until the 2023 pool season! That would be 3 pool seasons without this amenity. Don't let this happen!
